About our 'Dave Evans Apprenticeship Program'

CPP have a proud tradition of developing electricians who have built lasting careers with us and across the industry.

The program is named in honour of Dave Evans a long-time team member who worked with us for 18 years across roles from Project Manager to Regional Manager and CPP President, before becoming Chief Operating Officer at Quanta Services Australia in 2023.

A qualified electrician himself, Dave Evans was passionate about developing people, growing apprenticeships, and building capability across our industry. This program continues his legacy by providing training, mentorship, and opportunities for the next generation.

Program Overview
Supported by MEGT and Apprenticeship Support Australia, our four-year program offers:

On-the-job training and rotations across projects and sites

Off-the-job block/day release training delivered by TAFE SA

Certificate III in Electrotechnology Systems Electrician upon completion

Skills and Experiences:
Your Role as an Apprentice
As an apprentice, you’ll rotate through different work environments and locations to develop essential technical skills, deepen your industry knowledge, and build a strong foundation for your career.

You’ll gain hands-on experience under the supervision of licensed electricians, working on some of Australia’s largest high-voltage projects.

Your work will include:
Assisting with installation of HV equipment such as circuit breakers, disconnectors, voltage/current transformers, and secondary control systems

Maintaining and repairing electrical systems and equipment

Learning to read and interpret electrical drawings and specifications

Testing electrical systems and equipment

Eligibility Requirements

To be considered for an Apprenticeship, applicants must:
Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident

Be preferably 18 years or older at the time of employment

Hold a valid driver’s licence (minimum “P” plates)

Have completed Year 11 (Year 12 preferred)

Pass a pre-employment medical examination

Be willing to work away from home, including weekends

Successful candidates will demonstrate:
A mature, responsible attitude and strong work ethic

Willingness to learn and adapt in a structured training environment

Effective communication and teamwork skills

Motivation, reliability, and a positive approach to challenges
