Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Home Care Workers to provide essential support and care to one elderly client in their home. The ideal candidate will have a passion for helping others, particularly seniors and individuals with disabilities, ensuring they maintain their dignity and quality of life. This role requires a strong commitment to patient care, as well as the ability to work independently while following care plans. Flexible hours/days schedule available for the right person.
Responsibilities
- Assist clients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to clients, fostering a positive environment.
- Administer medication and monitor health conditions as directed by healthcare professionals.
- Assist with mobility and transportation needs, including accompanying clients to appointments.
- Maintain accurate records of client care and report any changes in condition to the appropriate personnel.
- Ensure a safe and clean living environment for clients by performing light housekeeping duties.
Qualifications
- Assist client with bathing (partial, complete, tub, or shower)
- Assist client with oral hygiene, hair care, dressing, and all activities of daily living.
- Assist client with ambulation, transferring, and positioning in bed or chair.
- Assist with physio exercises, etc. as per therapist’s care plan.
- Assist clients with feeding and light meal preparation.
- Perform light housekeeping duties.
- Make/change clients bedding as required.
- Client’s laundry clothes and bedding.
- Assist clients with toileting or incontinence care.
- Assist and/or remind client to take medication (Do not administer medication)
- Report any changes in health condition, or safety risks to immediate supervisor.
- Perform delegated tasks, specific to client; delegated by nurse or immediate supervisor.
- Compassionate nature with a genuine desire to help others maintain their independence and well-being.
The skills and qualities we are looking for:
- Kind and compassionate approach to care.
- Punctual and organized.
- Flexible & reliable.
- Strong communication skills in English (verbal & written)
- Ability to drive & travel to clients’ home and sometimes accompany to appointments.
What you need:
- Vulnerable Sector Police Check (less than 3 months old)
- First Aid / CPR course certification (current)
- $2 million in commercial general liability insurance (can be obtained once offer made)
- Ability to get to and from clients’ home (Valid Driver’s License)
Job Types: Part-time, Freelance
Pay: $30.00-$35.00 per hour
Expected hours: 3 – 10 per week
