Home Pickup Driver

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

Responsible for safe transport of materials to and from the retail stores. To ensure the daily transportation of used goods, new goods, salvage, and trash. Picks up donations from donor homes and businesses for transport to retail locations. Helps coordinate the storage of donations, when necessary. May occasionally supervise and train new material handlers. Drivers supervise material handlers when on assignment outside the plant.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensures proper customer service to donors, customers, employees, and supervisors. Projects a positive company image through pleasant customer service and proper clean appearance.
  • Maintains transportation logs as instructed. Ensures that all appropriate transportation logs are properly utilized and submitted to management.
  • Works with the Donations Manager and Scheduling Coordinator to coordinate the daily scheduling and routing of trucks. Ensures that trucks are safe and adequately stocked daily.
  • Involved in the daily collection and transportation of donations from donor homes and businesses to retail locations.
  • Monitors and advises Donations Manager of the need to order supplies as needed.

  • Helps keep the plant clean and hazard-free.

  • Drives a truck in a safe and efficient manner, complying with all state, federal, and local driving laws, as necessary.

  • Picks up and delivers donations and trash from donation centers, donation boxes and stores, as instructed. Works as a material handler in the plant as needed.

  • General preventative maintenance on vehicles and equipment.

  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school or GED, plus specialized schooling and/or on the job education in a specific skill area; e.g.

data processing, clerical/administrative, equipment operation, etc, plus 4 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must have a valid state driver's license and be insurable by the company's insurance carrier. Must be able to pass a DOT physical and drug screen.

Class D License

PUBLIC CONTACT

Frequent contacts with general public, patrons, or other outside representatives, wherein the manner of handling these contacts has a bearing on the organization's position and operation.

EMPLOYEE CONTACT

Contacts occasionally with others beyond immediate associates, but generally of a routine nature. May obtain, present or discuss data, but only as pertains to an immediate and specific assignment. No responsibility for obtaining cooperation or approval of action or decision.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Outside working environment, wherein there are extremely disagreeable working conditions most of the time (e.G. Hot mix paving in constant sun).

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Ability to lift 50 pounds, up to 100 pounds with assistance. Must be able to drive all types of company vehicles safely. Travel throughout the State of Arkansas. Exposure to truck and forklift fumes, noises and unfit donated goods. Exposure to trash and donations from stores/ADCs/donors.
