Job Summary
CASEWV is seeking an individual passionate about making a difference in the lives of families. The Home Visitor plays a crucial role in supporting families by providing in-home services that promote child development and family well-being. This position provides comprehensive child development services, in the home environment, including support of the parent / child relationship though education focused actives, home visits, group socialization, case management and family advocacy. The ideal applicants will have Home-Based Child Development Associate (CDA) or Apprenticeship for Child Development Specialist (ACDS) certification, or equivalent coursework as part of an associate or bachelor’s degree, and good communication and computer skills. This is a full-time position based out of the MIECHV Home Visitation office in Bluefield, WV.
Duties
- Conduct home visits to assess family needs and provide support tailored to individual circumstances.
- Collaborate with families to develop personalized action plans that address specific challenges related to child welfare and development.
- Provide education on child development, parenting techniques, and available community resources.
- Monitor family progress and adjust support strategies as needed to ensure effective outcomes.
- Maintain accurate records of home visits, assessments, and family interactions in compliance with organizational policies.
- Work collaboratively with social services, child protective services, and other community organizations to coordinate care for families.
- Implement crisis intervention strategies when necessary to ensure the safety of children and families.
Skills
- Strong understanding of child welfare principles and practices.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities and knowledge of relevant support services.
- Familiarity with child protective services processes and regulations.
- Background in behavioral health or social work is highly desirable.
- Proficient in crisis intervention techniques and conflict management strategies.
- Ability to utilize motivational interviewing techniques effectively during family interactions.
- Knowledge of family law as it pertains to child custody and welfare issues.
- Experience working with children in various settings is a plus.
