Cappoquin Fruit Farm is a family-run, apple orchard that has been supplying the major supermarkets with eating apples and cooking apples for 70 years. It is known for its advanced horticultural methods, quality standards, and long employment records.

Role Overview

We’re seeking a motivated Horticulture Operative to join our team and support daily operations across all areas of the orchard. This role is ideal for someone passionate about farming, and working outdoors in a hands-on, environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in planting trees.
• Maintain tree health; pruning, thinning, tree tying, fertisilising, and pest management.
• Farm maintenance such as mowing, hedge cutting.
• Maintain spray and fertiliser records.
• Operate and maintain tool and machinery such as saws, mowers, tractors, sprayers.
• Help in the packhouse to sort, grade, and pack apples.
• Adhere to company food quality and personal hygiene standards.

Requirements

• Interest & experience in agriculture or horticulture.
• Experience driving farm machinery.
• Physically fit and happy to work outdoors.
• Flexibility to work overtime (evening time and/or weekend hours) adapting to seasonal work demand.
• Fluent or high standard of English speaking skills.
• Reliable, punctual, and willing to learn.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Full driving license.
