Housekeeper

We require part time housekeeper/cleaners for a busy motel in North Dunedin.

Duties include:

• Cleaning and preparation of motel units ready for occupancy
• Daily servicing of rooms for guests staying over
• Cleaning of walkways and balustrades
• Cleaning of courtyards
• Cleaning of external surfaces
• Checking for and reporting any damage or maintenance issues.

Substantial work experience is required. Experience in a similar role is desirable but not essential. The successful applicant(s) will receive full training in our standards, methods and products used. We are looking for reliable, trustworthy candidates with a strong and proven work ethic, initiative, a willingness to learn and an eye for detail.

The work is physical in nature, requiring lifting, bending, stretching and getting down on hands and knees. Housekeepers may be required to push laden trolleys and move/slide furniture into place. Housekeepers are required to work with cleaning agents, solvents and chemicals.

The motel operates 365 days per year, and housekeepers work weekday, weekend and public holiday shifts. A shift is usually of 2 to 5 hours duration between 9.30am and 2.30pm, however, the number of hours and shifts per week varies. Each shift is a minimum of 2 hours and there is a guaranteed minimum of 4 hours per week, but usually there would be 15-25 hours per week. Rosters are issued weekly and include on-call shifts, rostered days off and rostered work days.

Applicants who are usually available to work both weekend and weekday shifts will be given preference.

There is an initial trial period of 90 calendar days from the commencement of employment.

The motel is located in North Dunedin, close to bus routes. Free parking is available for staff.
