Description:
How you'll make an impact

We’re looking for Housing Officers to join our Customer Services team in Victoria. In this people-focused role, you’ll provide professional tenancy management services to residents and prospective residents across our Victorian portfolio.

These positions are based at our Melbourne office, with occasional work required at our Geelong or Preston office depending on operational needs. Due to portfolio growth, there are multiple roles available.

Working closely with colleagues in allocations, rent review, tenancy sustainment, community engagement, NDIS engagement and safeguarding, you’ll play a key role in delivering end-to-end housing services.

Your work will support residents to sustain tenancies, understand their rights and responsibilities, and access safe and stable housing. This role reports to the Housing Services Team Leader. We welcome applicants from community housing, public housing and private real estate with transferable tenancy management experience.

Your role in action

  • Deliver quality tenancy management through clear, timely and respectful communication
  • Provide advice about tenant rights and responsibilities
  • Work with residents to resolve neighbourhood or tenancy concerns
  • Manage tenancies in line with the Residential Tenancy Act and program requirements, including SDA legislation
  • Identify tenancy risks early and work with internal teams to support sustainment
  • Conduct routine, ingoing and outgoing property inspections
  • Manage rent collection, arrears and tenancy debts
  • Maintain accurate and complete records in the tenancy management system
  • Build effective relationships with support providers, referral agencies and government stakeholders
  • Manage end-of-tenancy processes, including bond disbursement and debt recovery
  • Represent Housing Choices at Tribunals or Court as required
  • Keep up to date with legislation, regulations and program requirements
  • Use reporting tools to monitor accuracy, compliance and performance
Due to portfolio growth, there are multiple roles available.

Skills and Experiences:
About you

You’re passionate about social impact, housing, and equity and ready to contribute your skills to something bigger.

You will have:
  • Experience in tenancy management, community housing or social housing
  • Excellent communication skills and emotional intelligence, particularly when working with vulnerable people
  • Confidence navigating rent arrears, anti-social behaviour, and tenancy obligations
  • A collaborative, solutions-focused approach
  • Qualifications in housing, social services, or related fields (or equivalent experience)
You must agree to undergo any required employment screening, including but not limited to a National Criminal History or Police Check, Working with Children or Vulnerable Persons Check, and NDIS Worker Screening Check.
