Hybrid Community Support Worker/Direct Care Worker

This is a hybrid Community Support Worker and Direct Care Worker position. Reporting to the Direct Care Team Leader, the successful candidate will provide person-centred support to adults with acquired brain injuries, assisting with personal care, daily living activities, household tasks, and life-skills development while promoting independence and quality of life. The role includes planning and participating in recreational, leisure, and community inclusion activities, transporting residents to appointments and community programs, and supporting rehabilitation, physiotherapy, medication, and behaviour support plans as developed by the interdisciplinary care team. The successful candidate will maintain accurate documentation, communicate effectively with residents and team members, and demonstrate experience in activity programming, community-based support, and working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. A valid driver's licence and the ability to transport residents are required. Please note that this position requires union membership.

Wage: $25.95 Grid: 10

Experience

· Relevant experience working with adults or children with a disability, preferably, adult survivors of a traumatic brain injury in a medical, community or residential setting.

Skills and Abilities:

A suitable candidate has the:

· Ability to function effectively within the constitution and Bylaws of The Cridge Centre for the Family.

· Ability to be an active listener and to problem-solve.

· Ability to respond effectively and calmly in all situations.

· Ability to depersonalize remarks communicated by residents.

· Ability to treat clients, staff and other professionals with dignity and respect at all times, which is an inalienable right.

Qualifications

· 10-month Community Support Worker Certificate or certification.

· Training or education in relevant courses in the healthcare field or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.

· Fire Safety Training.

· TB Test Clearance.

· Class 4 licence is a strong asset.

Certifications/Licensing:

· FoodSafe Certificate.

· Current First Aid/CPR Certificate.

· Criminal Record Check.
