Hydraulic Service Manager

Job description

Dynamic Machine is seeking an experienced Hydraulic Service Manager to enthusiastically and efficiently manage and provide leadership for the hydraulic service department with the goal of profitability by serving both external and internal customers and to strive to exceed each customer’s expectation. Work is performed primarily at 1407 Dugald or on site as needs may require. The Service Manager will direct one coordinator and the department service technicians.

Dynamic Machine Corporation of Winnipeg, Manitoba is a modern integrated industrial manufacturing, repair, and supply company capable of dealing with projects of any size. Since1970 Dynamic Machine has been serving national and international clients both by building and repairing all types of custom and general production machinery and by selling, servicing, and repairing all brands of hydraulic and pneumatic equipment. Recently, a fabrication facility was added to an already impressive list of services provided.

We’re looking for an experienced Hydraulic Service Manager to join the Dynamic team! The ideal candidate for this role will be an expert leader who is a driven professional with a proven track record of providing leadership that includes actively listening and asking questions while directing the team. The ideal candidate will oversee all day-to day functions of the team and continue to work on fostering existing relationships with our customer base.

MAJOR WORK ACTIVITIES:

Customers

A. To ensure that all external (and internal) customers are greeted in a friendly and professional manner.

B. To ensure that all customer’s (external and internal) needs are accurately interpreted and fulfilled in a timely and professional manner.

C. Explore options to ensure the customer’s needs are met effectively.

D. Ensure that follow up is performed for customers (both external and internal) as to the status of their work.

E. Review all customer invoicing to ensure that invoiced amounts are fair and accurate and that stories accurately reflect all work performed.

F. To ensure that all work performed leaves the department passing the required specifications, that they are on invoices or work orders and that work orders are invoiced promptly.

Staff

A. Lead the staff individually and the department towards achieving the established goals. Observe, coach and follow-up staff behavior, encouraging decision making, personal growth and improving their skills to achieve these goals.

B. Communicate with staff often through regular meetings and personal interaction. Provide guidance and technical assistance when requested.

C. Perform hiring, discipline and performance evaluations for the department.

D. Identify staff training needs and ensure that staff is trained to an appropriate level on safety, equipment, policies, procedures, and company equipment to perform their required duties.

E. Develop, demonstrate and promote teamwork and leadership.

F. Review daily time sheets to ensure effective use of human resources and apply hours to work orders. Staffing levels should be reviewed periodically to minimize overtime (understaffing) and reduce shop time (overstaffing).

Management

A. To plan and direct all functions of the department ensuring effective and efficient use of limited resources. To review, recommend, implement or change procedures and systems as required.

B. To assist in setting financial and nonfinancial goals for individuals and for the department. Financial goals will include (but are not limited to) profitability, cost control and shop time. Nonfinancial goals will include (but are not limited to) customer service levels, minimal rework/warranty and interdepartmental cooperation.

C. To participate as part of the management team, to coordinate the departments activities with other managers and their departments to fulfill the organizations goals and to provide the highest service levels expected by external and internal customers, shareholders and staff.

D. Maintain a working knowledge of company policy/procedures.

E. Facilitate the purchase of materials and organize staffing to ensure that workflow requirements are met.

F. Ensure the department is clean and organized while keeping idle time to a minimum.

G. To perform internal reporting as required, ensuring the effective operations of the department.

H. To develop or recommend changes to company policy and procedures with the goal of promoting safety, customer service, efficiency, effectiveness and profitability.

Other

A. Assist supporting departments to ensure all required functions are done efficiently and accurately.

B. Ensure proper paper trails are recorded for all external and internal work orders.

C. Other directly related job duties as required.
