Job Description

To support engineering expertise and project execution, you will be responsible for a team of about thirty engineers and technicians located across CIMA+’s offices in Quebec and Ontario. You will oversee the teams responsible for studies, engineering, and construction execution in the field of civil and structural engineering for our Hydropower and Dams clients within the Energy and Resources sector.

With at least 15 years of experience in hydropower, industry, or engineering, you will be a leader focused on achieving business objectives. You will also be responsible for mobilizing teams in the execution and delivery of major multidisciplinary projects, while supporting the growth of this expertise within your sector.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead a structural engineering team on hydropower and dam projects, including concrete structures, powerhouses, superstructures, gates, and other associated infrastructure.
  • Supervise, mentor, and support the development of a team of professionals (structural engineers and technicians) dedicated to the design, rehabilitation, or inspection of hydraulic structures across Quebec.
  • Ensure the technical quality of deliverables, in compliance with applicable standards, client requirements, and the specificities of hydroelectric structures.
  • Work closely with other disciplines (heavy mechanical, turbine-generator mechanical, auxiliary mechanical, hydraulics, electrical, geotechnical, environmental) to ensure effective integration of structural solutions into multidisciplinary projects.
  • Contribute to planning, workload distribution, and team priority management to meet project deadlines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Implement management practices that promote team engagement, retention, and talent development in the field of structural engineering applied to hydropower.
  • Actively contribute to the sector’s growth strategy by identifying needs related to recruitment, technical tools, and training for structural works.
  • Support and guide team members in their interactions with clients, including at powerhouse and dam sites, while ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Take on a leadership role both technically and organizationally, fostering innovation, technical excellence, and rigor in structural projects within the hydropower context.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil and/or structural engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, structural engineering, or in a relevant field related to hydraulic structures and large-scale infrastructure.
  • Member in good standing of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ).
  • Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience, including demonstrated expertise in the design, inspection, rehabilitation, or construction of structural engineering works, ideally in the field of hydropower and dams (dams, powerhouses, dikes, gates, spillways, etc.).
  • Significant experience in heavy industrial environments, particularly in regulated settings with high technical requirements such as energy production.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to a variety of stakeholders (internal teams, clients, partners, etc.).
  • Proficiency in both French and English is essential for this position to ensure smooth interactions with various stakeholders, clear communication, and successful delivery of projects on a national scale.
  • Strong project management and technical team leadership skills, including planning, multidisciplinary coordination, and performance monitoring.
  • Knowledge of standards, codes, and best practices related to hydroelectric structures is a strong asset (e.g., CSA, BNQ, CEHQ standards, etc.).
