Job Title:
Hygiene & Customer Service Assistant

We are looking for a reliable, friendly and hardworking person to join our team at The Waterworks. This role is not for someone who wants to sit behind a desk all day. I t is for someone who takes genuine pride in keeping a facility clean, organised and welcoming, enjoys interacting with people, notices the little things that others miss, and understands that a clean, well-presented environment is one of the most important parts of the customer experience. We believe that cleanliness, presentation and customer service go hand in hand. The right person will play an important role in ensuring that every customer who walks through our doors enjoys a positive experience from the moment they arrive.

The Waterworks Leisure Club, Killerig, County Carlow

Pay:
€14.50 per hour

Job Type:
Full-Time

Working Hours

Shifts will vary and will include afternoons, evenings and weekends. Typical shifts may include:

  • 1:00pm – 9:00pm
  • 3:00pm – 10:30pm
  • 4:00pm – 12:30am

Some shifts will involve working independently while carrying out closing procedures at the end of the day.

Positions are available on a full-time basis, with days per week flexible.

The Role

The primary focus of this position is maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the facility. The role also includes assisting customers at reception, processing admissions, taking payments, serving refreshments, setting up memberships and helping customers with general enquiries. The successful candidate will spend most of their shift actively moving throughout the facility, carrying out hygiene checks, cleaning, restocking and ensuring all public areas remain clean, tidy and welcoming. This is a hands-on role and applicants should be comfortable being active throughout their shift.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and presentation throughout the facility.
  • Regular cleaning and monitoring of changing rooms, reception, toilets, poolside areas and public spaces.
  • Restocking cleaning, hygiene and customer supplies as required.
  • Ensuring customers enjoy a clean, safe and welcoming environment at all times.
  • Greeting customers and providing a friendly and professional first impression.
  • Operating the reception till and processing customer payments.
  • Assisting customers with memberships, admissions and general enquiries.
  • Serving refreshments and supporting the day-to-day operation of the facility.
  • Carrying out routine facility checks and reporting any issues or concerns.
  • Completing end-of-day cleaning and facility closing procedures.
  • Working independently during evening and weekend shifts when required.
  • Supporting colleagues and contributing positively to the overall customer experience.

Depending on the shift and staffing arrangements, the successful candidate may at times work independently within the facility, so the ability to work responsibly and manage tasks without supervision is important.

Previous experience in cleaning, housekeeping, healthcare, hospitality, retail or customer service would be an advantage, but is not essential.
