SLR has a great opportunity within the Perth office for an ambitious individual to join our high performing and friendly Occupational Hygiene and Hazardous Materials (OHHM) team as a Hygiene Technician. This is a full-time position where you will be working with a great local team as well as collaborating with a wider team in other locations throughout Australia. We are looking for individuals with a couple of years’ experience to learn from our team.

Responsibilities
Working alongside industry leaders in Occupational Hygiene and Hazardous Materials, Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Occupational exposure monitoring for hazards including dust, diesel particulate matter, welding fumes, noise, asbestos fibres and chemicals.
  • Developing sampling plans.
  • Respirator and hearing protection fit testing.
  • Reviewing sample data and entering it into company databases.
  • Conducting field task observations.
  • Providing accurate and reliable data for technical reports and proposals.
  • Contributing to SLR projects.
  • Regional travel will be required.


Skills and experience
To be successful in this role, you ideally will have:

  • Ability to travel regularly and be flexible with work arrangements.
  • Resource and/or heavy industry experience or exposure through study.
  • A valid driver's licence (a C class manual drivers’ licence is advantageous).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Competent computer skills in Microsoft, particularly Excel and Word.
  • The ability to work well autonomously and under supervision.
  • Australian Citizenship or rights to work in Australia.
  • You will have keen interest in OHHM and be driven to continue ongoing learning and development where SLR will support training to support your progression.


Desirable Qualifications/Experience

  • Able to communicate information to technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Reporting writing experience.
  • Experience with data analysis.
  • Experience working on a mine site.
  • Mine Air Quality Officer Training/Mine Air Quality Technician experience.
  • Noise officer/ Noise dosimetry training.
  • Qualifications in Occupational Hygiene, Chemistry, OHS, Science, Nursing/Medical and/or Environmental disciplines.
