The Opportunity

MidCentral provides an excellent grounding in Intensive Care Medicine for Senior House Officers looking to grow and develop their skills. The ICU is a busy, mixed unit caring for critically ill medical, surgical and trauma patients. There is also dedicated anaesthesia theatre time included in the ICU roster. The ICU runs a shift roster with on call SMO support overnight. The unit operates a “closed” model of care, with the ICU SMOs responsible for all admissions, discharges and management decisions.

About you

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand or be eligible for general or provisional general registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. You can check your eligibility for registration by visiting the Council's website at www.mcnz.org.nz
  • Completed PGY2 year or equivalent.
  • A keen interest in ICU or anaesthetics.
