Vector is collaborating with AWS and other leading global technology firms right here in New Zealand to work on projects that are leading the way on some of the biggest global energy challenges. In 2020, an alliance was formed between Vector and Amazon Web Services (AWS) to co-develop a cloud native data platform: Diverge. This team has evolved to become Vector Technology Services (VTS); a subsidiary of Vector, New Zealand's largest distributor of electricity and gas.

About the opportunity:

Due to continued success, we are now looking to add to our team , with a genuine and skilled technology leader to provide a crucial bridge between our internal teams and our customers.

On a typical week, you can expect to:

• Lead technical conceptual approach conversations with the customer during pre-sales to support scalable, serverless data platform implementations.
• Provide technical leadership across Professional Services and Sustaining Engineering capabilities to achieve required outcomes for the business and customers.
• Guide DevOps-driven Sustaining Engineering practices to ensure full resolution for customer challenges.
• Bringing lessons learnt for continuous improvements in the technical approach, practices, standards and processes end to end.
• Mentor engineers and help foster a high-performance, future-focused engineering culture.

Who we are looking for:

We’re seeking a genuine and skilled Engineering leader who is passionate about the customer and working closely with technology teams to build fit for purpose solutions with our base product Diverge. You’ll bring with you:

• Proven technical leader with a track record of driving outcomes, solving complex problems under pressure, and coordinating effectively with diverse stakeholders.
• Experienced in evaluating customer requirements and proposing scalable, serverless solutions using AWS, ensuring alignment with business needs.
• Deep expertise in Java (10+ years), including frameworks such as Spring Boot, and a strong understanding of the wider ecosystem.
• Proficient in architecting cloud-native systems on AWS, with hands-on knowledge of services like Lambda, DynamoDB, S3, IAM, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, KMS, and API Gateway.
• Strong understanding of DevOps and CI/CD practices, with experience using tools like GitLab and Terraform.
• Skilled communicator, able to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders and effectively manage client and third-party interactions.
• Supportive mentor with the ability to guide junior engineers and foster a collaborative, high-performance culture

The Diverge Platform:

• Is a customisable managed software-as-a-service platform; for energy data ingestion, processing, insights generation and data delivery.
• Is cloud native, composed entirely of AWS serverless services which bring cloud native scalability, reliability and resilience to this mission critical enterprise system.
• Is deployed and managed through infrastructure-as-code, automated software release and service orchestration.
• Performs streaming data processing in state, temporal sequence and data dependency aware pipelines.
