Job Title: In-Home Academic Tutor (Middle School) – Pensacola
Location: Pensacola, FL (in-home)
Schedule: 4 sessions per week (Monday–Thursday, ~10:00 AM–12:00 PM; school-year commitment beginning August 2026)
Compensation: $50–90/hr as a 1099 contractor
About the Role
We are seeking a highly polished, experienced educator to support a middle school student enrolled in an online school program. This is a consistent, daytime role for the full academic year, ideal for a professional who can serve as the student’s primary academic guide during the school day.
The right candidate will bring the curriculum to life through in-person instruction, ensuring the student not only completes her online coursework but deeply understands the material. This includes re-teaching challenging concepts, pre-teaching upcoming content, and creating a structured, engaging learning environment that supports both mastery and independence.
What You’ll Do
- Provide in-home, one-on-one academic support across all core subjects
- Translate online curriculum into engaging, interactive instruction
- Re-teach concepts to ensure comprehension and retention
- Pre-teach upcoming material to build confidence and readiness
- Create structure around the school day, including pacing and task management
- Support organization, time management, and executive functioning skills
- Bring creativity and energy to lessons to keep the student engaged
- Communicate regularly with parents on progress, priorities, and observations
What We’re Looking For
- Strong generalist background across middle school subjects (required)
- Experience supporting homeschool or online learners strongly preferred
- Ability to independently manage and guide a student’s academic day
- Confident in both instructional delivery and academic planning
- Highly organized, proactive, and detail-oriented
- Polished, professional, and comfortable working in a private home setting
- Warm, engaging, and able to build a strong, respectful student relationship
- Reliable, communicative, and consistent
Ideal Candidate
You are a seasoned educator who can step into a non-traditional learning environment and take ownership of the academic experience. You know how to balance structure with flexibility, rigor with encouragement, and support with independence. You are as comfortable teaching content as you are shaping how a student approaches learning—building habits, confidence, and curiosity along the way.
