About the role

Mai‑Wel is seeking an In‑Work Support Specialist to join our Employment Pathways team, delivering personalised, strengths‑based support through the Inclusive Employment Australia (IEA) Program.

In this role, you will support participants to maintain meaningful, ongoing employment, working closely with employers to address workplace challenges, identify career development opportunities, and remove barriers to sustainable work.

This is a client‑focused, community‑impact role suited to someone who is organised, adaptable, and passionate about inclusive employment outcomes.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide tailored in‑work support to participants to maintain sustainable employment
  • Work collaboratively with employers and participants to address workplace issues
  • Identify training, support, and career development opportunities
  • Develop and maintain Job Plans, incorporating on‑the‑job training and support needs
  • Conduct participant meetings and record outcomes accurately in Workforce Australia
  • Assist with job search activities, workplace assessments, and reasonable workplace modifications
  • Provide or refer participants to services addressing non‑vocational barriers
  • Deliver or coordinate career and vocational counselling
  • Maintain accurate, compliant participant records in line with funder and organisational requirements
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of employment programs and services

About you

You will bring:
✅ Experience working with people in a support, employment, or customer‑focused environment
✅ A person‑centred and strengths‑based approach to service delivery
✅ Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage administrative requirements accurately
✅ Well‑developed written and verbal communication skills
✅ An understanding of vocational and non‑vocational barriers to employment
✅ Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively

Essential requirements

  • Current First Aid Certificate (HLTAID009, HLTAID010, HLTAID011) or willingness to obtain
  • Strong MyGovID (or ability to obtain)
  • Willingness to travel and work from various sites as required
Desirable

  • Certificate III or IV (or Diploma) in Community Services, Employment Services, Disability, Mental Health, Youth, or related field
  • Experience with Workforce Australia / IEA programs
  • Trauma‑informed practice experience
  • Strong cultural awareness and experience supporting diverse cohorts, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
