Job Description
We are looking for an experienced/qualified Chef to join our team and prepare delicious Indian and Mediterranean cuisine for our customers.
Responsibilities as below but ultimately, you will prepare and deliver a complete menu that delights our guests.
Responsibilities
· Overall responsibility for the kitchen’s daily operations
· Oversee the preparation of all food items and ensure high-quality preparation, presentation and delivery according to specifications
· Plan new menus, estimate the cost of food and labour for new dishes to meet the budget
· Ensure wastage is minimised through careful supervision of storage, rotation, preparation and cooking procedures
· Track and control food costs and liaise with suppliers to provide cost-efficient food items
· Provide information to the Restaurant Manager to order any items not ordered by the Chef directly
· Support management with new dish proposals and menu planning and pricing
· Liaise with management and other staff to resolve customer or kitchen issues
· Delegate and supervise Kitchen staff and provide training when possible
· Ensuring that the kitchen is kept clean at all times and ensure that all staff follow the health and safety plan standards in the kitchen area
· Provide information on food ingredients/allergies, handle any customer food complaint and kitchen issues efficiently
· Able to make good estimations of raw material required and the cost involved
· Set up kitchen stations in accordance with the business needs and keep optimal stock for service
· Collaborate with Restaurant Manager for improvements required for the growth of the business
· Train and mentor junior kitchen staff
Requirements
· Tertiary qualification in professional cookery, culinary arts or similar OR at least three years relevant work experience including responsibility for menu preparation and dish creation
· Previous experience with Indian and Mediterranean dishes required to develop menus
· Ability to work under pressure and undertake various tasks
· Excellent time management abilities
· Conflict resolution skills
· Familiarity with health and safety regulations
The role is 30-35 hours per week, with our Restaurant operating 7 days a week. We are open between 11 am to 10 pm so some split shifts will be required, and weekend availability is a must.
