Instrumentation And Electrical Technician

Sancon Commissioning Inc. is looking for an individual who meets the following requirements and descriptions:

USA Instrumentationn / Electrical – Commissioning Technician/Trade

An Instrumentation / Electrical Technician repairs, maintains, calibrates, adjusts, and installs industrial measuring and controlling instrumentation. Ensure the correct equipment operation to ensure all equipment and processes function as designed. The individual will be responsible for following clearly defined processes and procedures to test and troubleshoot equipment.

The applicant must be versed in the fundamentals of electrical theory. This knowledge will allow the applicant to apply USA standard testing practices to validate the integrity of electrical equipment. Testing will involve both low- and medium-voltage equipment, and in some applications, it will involve high voltage. The applicant must be familiar with completing various commissioning tests and troubleshooting.

Knowledgeable with the use of various electrical power test equipment, including:

Electrical

  • Experience working with high to medium-voltage systems
  • Relay testing experience
  • Proficient in operating an insulation resistance tester
  • Skilled in using AC/DC Hi-Pot Testers
  • Competent with digital low-resistance ohmmeters
  • Experienced with 3 Phase injection test sets
  • Familiar with Transformer Turns Ratio test sets
  • Capable of using Current Transformer test sets
  • Able to operate a lumens meter
  • Proficient in conducting Protection Relay tests
  • Skilled in using Digital Voltage Meters and power quality analyzers
  • Competent with Load Bank testing and troubleshooting
  • Experienced with Battery testers
  • Proficient in using temperature guns and circuit breaker test sets

Instrumentation

  • Instrumentation Knowledge: Proficiency in repairing, maintaining, calibrating, and adjusting industrial measuring and controlling instrumentation.
  • Electrical Skills: Ability to work with electrical systems, including testing and troubleshooting equipment related to motors, generators, lighting, HVAC, transformers, and other electrical components.
  • Technical Aptitude: Strong understanding of electrical theory fundamentals and practical application in commissioning processes.
  • Testing and Validation: Experience in conducting tests using various electrical power test equipment such as insulation resistance testers, AC/DC Hi-Pot testers, ohmmeters, injection test sets, transformer ratio test sets, current transformer test sets, etc.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate will possess the following essential skills and qualifications:

  • 5 years of industrial oil and gas experience; technical training with a science background or equivalent is preferred; good working knowledge of equipment, materials, techniques, and safeguards in respective discipline for maintaining and constructing a continuous process; basic knowledge of fluid dynamics and process control.
  • Ability to read and understand instrument and electrical drawings; a high mechanical aptitude and the ability to comprehend and apply information in technical service manuals; excellent verbal and written communication skills; Good computer skills.
  • Must speak, read and write in English
  • Have a valid drivers license for USA
  • Must be legally eligible to work in USA without further certifications or authorizations Safety Compliance: Adherence to safety protocols and regulations, including knowledge of electrical codes and standards to ensure safe working conditions during commissioning activities.
  • Problem-solving skills: Ability to identify and troubleshoot issues in instrumentation and electrical systems in a methodical manner.
  • Reading and Interpreting Drawings: Proficient in reading and understanding instrument and electrical drawings, schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for documenting maintenance activities, writing reports, and effectively communicating with team members and stakeholders.
  • Computer Proficiency: Good computer skills for data entry, using software tools for testing and analysis, and accessing technical documentation online.
  • Mechanical Aptitude: High mechanical aptitude to comprehend and apply information from technical service manuals related to instrumentation and electrical systems.
  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make recommendations for improvements during commissioning processes.
  • Teamwork and Collaboration: Capable of working collaboratively with other technicians, engineers, and project managers to achieve commissioning objectives and ensure project success.
  • Attention to Detail: Thoroughly inspecting and testing instruments and systems to accurately diagnose faults and ensure proper functioning.
  • Continuous Learning: Willingness to stay updated with industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in commissioning instrumentation and electrical systems.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to work in various environments, handle changing project requirements, and adjust to evolving commissioning processes and procedures.

Education

- Trade Certification (Instrumentation &/or Electrical)

Or

-Certified Technologist (Instrumentation &/or Electrical)

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $50.00 - $55.00 per hour

Expected hours: 50 – 60 per week

Schedule:

  • 10 hour shift
  • 12 hour shift
  • Overtime
  • Rotating shift
