Overall Purpose
This role is responsible for the daily management of company risk including all accidents and incidents within the company. You will be responsible for engaging with brokers, insurers and all third parties for all personal injury accident, property damage, motor accidents and claims. This will include attending court proceedings. Your primary focus is to reduce risk for the company, clients and employees.

Additional notes:

The Insurance and Claims Management role engages with all site managers, key head office personal and in some case communications with operatives directly and/or clients. In conducting this role, you will be required to have a hands-on approach and lead any high-risk accidents.

You will manage all claims and will represent the company for all communications with our insurance broker, insurance company and the designated legal team. You will provide all relevant information to support claim defence. You will be the key person to advise senior management on claim management to ensure the best outcome for the company.

As part of this role you will also be heavily involved in claim court proceedings and insurance renewal. Administrative support is offered via administration in the EQHS department.


Detailed Duties and Responsibility


Accident/Incident Management:

  • Manage all Accident and Incident Investigations and Reports including reporting, recording of documentation, assisting On Site Investigation, FTW etc
  • Liaising with Clients, employees & injured parties, right through from accident to claim/court proceedings stage (where applicable).
  • Coordinate internal resources and third parties such as medical assessments where required
  • Oversee accidents capturing salient points for escalation where there are gaps and assist in the identification of process to be documented in the opertional manual.
  • Identify corrective action and track close out by responsible persons
  • Ensure all accident & incidents are loaded and tracked with relevant information imported into the company accident management system- ECO-Online
  • Oversee, review and/or lead high risk or complex Fitness To Work with sites (This is heavily supported by EQHS Manager)
  • Ensure that all management and client reports (KPI’s) are maintained and published on time
  • Attend senior management and company meetings as required
  • Arrange company medicals where applicable
  • Create and provide training on accidents, claims and systems to relevant persons.
  • Manage all motor accidents – repair and injury, communicating with all stakeholders (Leasing Company, Insurers, Injured Parties, Management)

Claims / Insurance Management

  • Notify insurers of receipt of legal claim
  • Creating and maintaining comprehensive claim files on Eco-Online
  • Publishing and tracking claim management report with Insurers
  • Monitor broker and insurer for agreed claim “next step” tracking all key correspondences
  • Consult and meet with legal representation
  • Attend engineering inspections
  • Arranging meetings or attendance of key witnesses (under your control), access to equipment, access to location of incident (under your control) etc for inspections, meetings or court proceedings
  • Attending all court proceedings, mediations and legal meetings
  • Reviewing claims data to ensure reserves are inline with company defence and accident settlement.
  • Manage Insurance Renewals on behalf of the company, obtaining the best cover and cost relevant to the needs of the business

Risk Management

  • Identify and manage initiatives to drive effective risk management
  • Support on-going improvement in risk register
  • Identify opportunities for service and quality improvements and quantify benefits
  • Support the development and updating of policies and procedures in relation to risk management
  • Support the EQHS Department as a custodian, co-ordinator and driver of regular reviews and updates of the Business Risk Management process / register across Corporate and Functional Department owners to ensure risks are identified, avoided and / or appropriately mitigated through risk reduction controls/plans and/or insurance coverage.
  • Do regular reviews for industry trends and mitigation strategies for risks affecting us and to help inform our company strategy for risk avoidance or risk management planning

Strategy

  • To work in line with the Organisations Strategic Plan to ensure that the Accident & Claims Department performs in line with same
  • To provide Senior Management and EQHS Department with an annual plan for the function, that is monitored regularly to ascertain progress
  • To form part of the Senior Management Team for the organisation and assist in the development of the Organisations Strategic Plan, keeping accident prevention and management at the forefront of your communications.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant Degree
  • Claims management / insurance qualification

Experience:

  • Accident and claims management (formal or otherwise)
  • Proven business risk analysis skills
