Position Overview:

The SLAC Supply Chain Management (SCM) provides effective and efficient procurement, shipping/receiving, property control, and compliance services to the Lab while sustaining the highest level of stewardship. Critical to delivering on these responsibilities is our ability to effectively and efficiently understand our data to ensure we are tracking against Department of Energy benchmarks, our Prime Contract and Federal Acquisition Regulation.

The SCM Intern will primarily assist SCM in reconciling or removing open commitments for goods and services. The SCM intern will gain an understanding of the impact of encumbrance in accounting and the connection between the Purchase Order and the General Ledger.

Additionally, the position may involve varying projects which involve transaction processing, database support and development, business intelligence and analytics, and various other ad hoc administrative duties.

Your specific responsibilities include:

  • Assist with reconciling and removing open commitments
  • Analyze data and create and update reports for a variety of projects.
  • Assist in processing purchase orders.
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties assigned by the supervisor.

Note: This is an hourly, non-benefits eligible temporary-nonexempt summer student position (work at 50% full-time equivalent or less), not to exceed 980 hours in six consecutive months Eligible applicants must be at least 18 years of age, currently enrolled in an educational program or recently graduated, and have US work authorization

To be successful in this position you will bring:

  • Some college level course work in business administration, accounting, finance, policy, or management information systems.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with other department and laboratory personnel.
  • Possess basic understanding of business processes and accounting fundamentals.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others and provide excellent service to customers in a professional, respectful manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to research, reach out to others to gather information, and come up with solutions/suggestions for problem solving.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform work accurately.
  • Demonstrated skill with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

The expected pay range for this position is $24.26 - $26.25 per hour. SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory/Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.
