Interpretation Planner and Content Developer

This post will undertake the research, interpretive planning, consultation, engagement and co-creation to develop great content for our projects. You will work collaboratively with colleagues, clients, project teams, stakeholders and audiences in a proactive and responsive way, taking the initiative where necessary but never being afraid to ask for help.

Your work will span interpetation planning, research and creation of content plans, audience engagement and co-creation, co-ordination with clients, colleagues and suppliers, and managing the content creation process and assets. You will be supported and mentored by our Lead Consultant and Managing Director.

You will also help to develop our tender proposals and win new business.

Level of experience

We are looking for a candidate at an early or mid stage in their career who wants to develop their skills and with a strong desire to learn. The final Job Description and any related training needs will be finalised with the successful candidate.

Working internationally

We undertake design and consultancy projects across the UK and Ireland, and occasionally in Europe the Middle East and China. A valid passport and a willingness to regularly travel and work overseas is a requirement of the post.

Start date

To be agreed with the successful applicant in c. January 2026.

Location

Many of our staff work from home and this will be an option for the successful candidate.

This post can be UK or the Republic of Ireland-based.

Main responsibilities of the post (training will be provided where necessary)

You will be responsible for delivering projects to our clients’ requirements by:

  • Undertaking consultancy commissions as part of a wider Imagemakers team.
  • Traveling for meetings, workshops and site visits.
  • Attending internal and external meetings, assisting with the agenda and recording and issuing minutes as needed.
  • Organising and hosting Zoom and Teams meetings.
  • Planning and timetabling your own work, in collaboration with project management colleagues.
  • Working and liaising directly with clients, stakeholders, partners and wider professional teams.
  • Researching and analysing interpretive audiences, aims, objectives, themes, topics and narratives.
  • Writing concise reports, plans and strategies.
  • Preparing content plans.
  • Consulting, engaging and co-creating with audiences and communities.
  • Presenting and running workshops and other engagement activity.
  • Considering accessibility, equality, diversity and inclusion needs and opportunities.
  • Writing interpretive copy and scripts.
  • Co-ordinating and managing the content creation process and assets, including copy, images, video and audio material.
  • Providing creative input to the design process and potential solutions.
  • Communicating effectively at all times.
  • Using AI tools to work efficiently.
  • Identifying and following opportunities for obtaining new work, including networking, attending occasional conferences and meeting prospective clients.

Requirements of the post

  • A degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
  • Direct or indirect experience of heritage interpretation.
  • Direct or indirect experience of activity planning and audience engagement.
  • Ability to research, analyse and filter material.
  • Ability to work on your own initiative and under pressure.
  • A wish to work with volunteers, audiences and communities.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • An organised and efficient self-starter with a systematic but flexible approach.
  • Excellent collaboration and team skills.
  • A full passport with no restrictions.
  • A willingness to regularly travel.
  • A willingness to undertake occasional out-of-hours work at evenings and weekends.
  • A willingness to learn.

The following is not a requirement but could be an advantage:

  • Membership of an appropriate professional organisation.
  • Familiarity with NLHF funded projects and funding applications.
  • A postgraduate qualification in a relevant field.

The post is full time and permanent, subject to a 3 month probationary period. It will be supported by our Lead Consultant David Masters and line managed by Imagemakers’ MD Jane Sillifant.

Pay: €40,468.00-€45,093.00 per year
