Inventory Controller (Produce)
The Fresh Produce team of Service Foods Wellington is hiring an Inventory Controller who will play a crucial role in ensuring our inventory is accurately tracked, monitored and optimised to meet our operational needs.

You will have a strong understanding of inventory management principles and practices, as well as the ability to build positive relationships with those around them.

The role:

  • Permanent, full-time role.
  • Monday to Friday – 05:00 am to 12:30/01:00 pm
  • Alternative Saturdays
  • Location: William Durant Drive, Upper Hutt

The job:

You will be responsible for maintaining proper stock levels, reducing waste and facilitating seamless order fulfilment. Our Produce Inventory Controller will work closely with our Fresh Produce and Prepared Produce team to ensure the smooth flow of products through our supply chain.

Some of the key responsibilities of this role are:

  • Support the entire inventory control process, including receiving, replenishment, picking, packing and shipping
  • Day-to-day administration of Produce inventory, including tracking stock levels, ensuring accuracy and maintaining proper rotation of products.
  • Assist with implementation of inventory control policies and procedures to maintain accuracy and efficiency.
  • Monitor inventory levels and product shelf-life, ensuring that we have the right products available when needed.
  • Collaborate with the procurement team to ensure proper stock levels to meet customer demand.
  • Quality control, Warehouse support and dispatch administration
  • Conduct regular audits and cycle counts to maintain accurate inventory records.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in inventory records.
  • Coordinate with other departments to streamline order processing and shipping.
  • Maintain inventory management systems and procedures

The person:

You will ideally have adequate knowledge and relevant experience in a similar role, especially within the food industry, or a warehousing environment. A qualification in Logistics, Inventory, Supply chain, Warehouse operations or a related field would be beneficial.

Our ideal candidate will have worked in a warehouse or fresh produce industry and be happy to get out on the floor to investigate stock and help the team as required

The key attributes and skills we are seeking:

  • Strong knowledge of inventory management systems
  • Excellent literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Current Forklift License preferred
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of Food Safety and quality standards; understanding of health and safety regulations.
  • Organized, reliable, and flexible; able to work independently and as part of a team; capable of meeting deadlines and working under pressure.
  • Physically fit and strong, with leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Familiarity with food industry inventory practices is beneficial
