Job Specification: IT Verification and Compliance Assistant
We are a growing Managed Service Provider (MSP) looking for a motivated individual to join our team as an IT Verification and Compliance Assistant. This entry-level position provides an excellent foundation for a career in IT, with significant growth potential and opportunities to upskill into advanced roles, including the Help Desk Engineer team.
In this role, you will assist in verifying and auditing various aspects of our clients' IT systems to ensure best practices, security protocols, and operational efficiency are consistently met. Your work will play a vital role in maintaining the stability and reliability of our clients’ IT environments, collaborating closely with our IT Help Desk team.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain detailed checklists and schedules to systematically verify IT systems, infrastructure, and processes.
- Perform regular audits to ensure the successful completion of backup jobs across multiple client platforms.
- Verify the installation of security patches and software updates to maintain system security.
- Check and review firewall configurations to ensure rules are up-to-date and meet security standards.
- Audit Active Directory user accounts to confirm proper permissions and deactivate inactive accounts.
- Monitor antivirus and anti-malware deployments to ensure all systems are protected and up-to-date.
- Use read-only access to tools like Microsoft Intune to verify device compliance and maintain accurate asset inventory.
- Check and schedule firmware updates for telephony systems and client devices.
- Document findings and prepare clear, organized reports for regular system verifications, escalating issues when necessary.
- Assist with security audits, including two-factor authentication checks and vulnerability scans.
- Ensure all system and network documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
- Work with the IT Help Desk to verify adherence to standard operating procedures across client environments.
Qualifications and Skills
- Fluency in the English language, both spoken and written.
- Understanding of IT infrastructure, networking, servers, and cybersecurity principles.
- Familiarity with tools such as Microsoft Intune, Active Directory, and common backup solutions.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow and adapt verification plans accurately.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Effective communication skills for reporting findings and coordinating with teams.
- Proactive attitude toward learning and expanding skills in IT compliance and verification tasks. The company will provide learning opportunities and support for your aligned IT development.
Eligibility
- Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Ireland and will be subject to Irish employment law.
- Remote working is subject to UpInTheCloud's WFH policy which requires an appropriate and private workspace for 'at home' working. Further details on requirements will be provided separately.
Future Development Opportunities
This role is designed with growth in mind. Over time, the IT Verification and Compliance Assistant may advance into positions with increased responsibilities, including the ability to make direct system modifications and take corrective actions. There is also a pathway to upskill and transition into the Help Desk Engineer team or other specialised IT roles within the company.
