Job Description

Position Summary

The I.T. Systems Administrator is responsible for the support, administration, maintenance, monitoring, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of business-critical enterprise applications and supporting infrastructure within a complex manufacturing environment.

This position requires an experienced, highly self-motivated IT professional who can work independently while collaborating effectively within a global IT organization. The successful candidate will support a diverse portfolio of ERP, warehouse management, engineering, manufacturing, analytics, and legacy business systems while ensuring their stability, performance, security, and long-term supportability.

Working as part of the Enterprise Applications team, this role collaborates closely with Infrastructure, Network, Development, Data, Project, and Service Desk teams, as well as external software vendors and service providers.

The ideal candidate is a strong technical generalist with expertise across enterprise applications, Microsoft SQL Server technologies, and supporting infrastructure platforms. The ability to independently learn unfamiliar systems and assume operational ownership of business-critical applications is essential.

This position is fully onsite and reports remotely within a global IT organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer, support, monitor, and troubleshoot business-critical enterprise applications, including ERP, warehouse management, engineering, manufacturing, analytics, and other operational systems.
• Develop technical expertise and operational ownership of assigned applications and services.
• Proactively identify technical debt, supportability risks, and opportunities for improvement across enterprise applications and supporting infrastructure.
• Contribute to projects and continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing technical debt, improving system stability, and modernizing legacy technologies.
• Troubleshoot issues across application, database, operating system, infrastructure, authentication, and integration layers.
• Administer and support Microsoft SQL Server environments, including clustered installations, Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) platforms, and related technologies such as SSIS, SSAS, and SSRS.
• Collaborate with Development, Data, BI, and DBA teams to identify and resolve database and application performance issues.
• Administer and support Microsoft Windows Server environments.
• Support Active Directory administration, authentication services, and Kerberos-related troubleshooting.
• Support and maintain virtualized environments primarily based on Microsoft Hyper-V.
• Support Azure-hosted business applications, databases, and analytical solutions.
• Participate in application and infrastructure deployment projects and ensure operational readiness prior to go-live.
• Review technical documentation and ensure supported systems remain properly documented and maintainable.
• Work within established ITIL processes for Incident, Problem, Change, and Service Request Management.
• Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for recurring and business-critical incidents.
• Collect and analyze diagnostic information using tools such as PerfMon, Windows Event Viewer, SQL Server tools, Dynatrace, Spotlight, and application logs.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, incident reports, and Root Cause Analysis documentation.
• Collaborate with software vendors, service providers, business users, project teams, and global IT teams to resolve complex technical issues.
• Participate in regular remote meetings and communications using Microsoft Teams, email, and ticket management systems.

Education

• Computer Science degree, Information Technology degree, or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.

The following certifications are considered an asset:

• IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL)
• Microsoft certifications related to Windows Server, SQL Server, Azure, Infrastructure Administration, or Enterprise Applications
• Citrix certifications

Experience & Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience implementing, supporting, and managing enterprise applications and systems technologies in a complex, global environment.
• Strong hands-on experience administering Microsoft Windows Server environments.
• Strong hands-on experience administering Microsoft SQL Server environments.
• Experience supporting ERP and business-critical enterprise applications.
• Experience supporting ERP solutions such as Microsoft Dynamics AX.
• Experience supporting Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) environments and Microsoft SQL Server technologies including SSIS, SSAS, and SSRS.
• Experience troubleshooting SQL Server performance issues and supporting clustered SQL Server environments.
• Experience administering Microsoft Active Directory and supporting Microsoft Hyper-V environments.
• Experience working within ITIL-based support processes.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to independently learn and support unfamiliar business systems and technologies.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Experience working with globally distributed teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to create technical documentation, operational procedures, incident reports, and Root Cause Analysis documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting manufacturing, engineering, warehouse management, and other business-critical enterprise applications. Experience with Teamcenter, NX, CAD/PDM/PLM platforms, WMS, OFS, TDM, or comparable business systems is considered an asset.
• Experience with Azure, Citrix, Linux, Docker, or related infrastructure technologies.
• Experience with Dynatrace monitoring solutions.
• Experience troubleshooting Kerberos authentication issues.
• Experience with PowerShell scripting and automation.
