PART-TIME JANITOR POSITION

The Bethania Group is currently recruiting for a Part-Time, (.7 FTE – 52.5 hrs biweekly) Permanent Janitor for 285 Pembina Inc. located at 285 Pembina Hwy.

285 Pembina is a multi-functional facility servicing Deaf, Hard-of-Hearing and Hearing individuals. This position plays an important role in supporting all of our residents, tenants and staff. Previous experience working with people within various communities including deaf, deaf/blind and mental health is an asset. This is a unionized role with Manitoba Goverment and General Employees Union (MGEU).

Candidates must be available to work day shifts including alternating weekends.

Qualifications:

· High school graduate or equivalent

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

· Knowledge and experience in working with cleaning supplies and chemicals

· Ability to read, write and speak proficiently in the English language

· Ability to provide excellent customer service

· Ability to work harmoniously with others

· Basic knowledge of WHIMIS

· Ability to act independently within established guidelines

· Good physical health to meet the requirements of the job

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

· Vacuuming, mopping, and washing floors

· Emptying garbage, collecting recycling

· Cleaning washrooms

· Wiping walls, chairs, tables, handrails etc.

· Meeting room set ups and tear downs

Preference will be given to candidates with proven ability to communicate using American Sign Language (asset). Willingness to enroll in the next available ASL course at the Centre is a requirement.

Successful candidates are required to provide a current (within the last year) Criminal Record Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check.
