Overview

At Southwood Trucking Ltd. we are seeking a motivated individual to fill the position of Janitor/Caretaker/Heavy Duty Cleaner who will be responsible for performing routine and heavy-duty cleaning, sanitation, maintenance, and general upkeep of the interior and exterior of commercial buildings and premises. The incumbent ensures that the facility remains clean, safe, sanitary, and presentable at all times for employees, customer and visitors.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, dusting, trash removal, and sanitizing surfaces in camp setting
• Operate heavy duty cleaning equipment
• Conduct deep cleaning procedures for heavy-duty tasks such as floor stripping, carpet cleaning, window washing, and sanitation of restrooms
• Maintain cleanliness of common areas, equipment to meet health and safety standards
• Assist with minor repairs or maintenance tasks as needed to ensure facility upkeep
• Follow safety protocols during all cleaning activities to prevent accidents or injuries
• Move heavy furniture, equipment and supplies
• Remove snow, ice and debris from entrances and pathways during winter months
• Cut grass, trim hedges, water plants, and maintain surrounding grounds
• Use appropriate cleaning chemicals and equipment efficiently and safely
• Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to supervisors promptly

Experience

• Prior experience in commercial cleaning or facilities maintenance is preferred but not required; training will be provided for the right candidates
• Knowledge of proper use of cleaning chemicals and equipment is a plus
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards of cleanliness
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills are essential for success in this role
• Physical ability to perform heavy-duty cleaning tasks including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift heavy materials, work at heights, and spend long hours outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Ability to bend, sit, stoop kneel, crouch

Pay: $18.00-$21.27 per hour
