The Junior Azure Administrator anchors day‑to‑day Azure operations so the IT Lead can focus on architecture and governance. You will own standard provisioning (resource groups, tags, storage), least‑privilege RBAC hygiene, Entra app/group assignments, and first‑line triage of Azure Policy/Defender alerts. You will help build light automation and clear runbooks to make common changes safe, fast, and repeatable—surfacing cost and compliance drift early. In addition, you will work closely with the team lead and systems architect to update and refactor the Azure environment, ensuring it remains optimized and aligned with organizational best practices.


Responsibilities:

Standard Operations Support

  • Resource Provisioning & Hygiene: Execute and automate the creation of resource groups, storage accounts, and tagging, ensuring adherence to cost and naming standards. Proactively monitor for drift and inconsistencies, and remediate as needed.
  • RBAC & Access Management: Maintain least-privilege access through disciplined RBAC and Privileged Identity Management (PIM) processes. Manage Entra ID app/group assignments, ensuring all access changes are logged and approved.
  • Monitoring & Alert Response: Continuously monitor Azure Policy and Microsoft Defender for Cloud alerts. Triage and resolve baseline issues using established runbooks, escalating complex incidents as appropriate.
  • Lifecycle Management: Oversee the lifecycle of VMs and managed services, including provisioning, backup/restore validation, and key rotation. Ensure all operational tasks are documented and repeatable.
  • Compliance Alignment: Work proactively to ensure the Azure environment adheres to ISO standards and company compliance policies. Regularly review configurations and operational practices to maintain certification requirements and support ongoing audits.

L1 Support Requests

  • First-Line Troubleshooting: Serve as the initial point of contact for Azure-related incidents and requests. Use diagnostic tools and runbooks to resolve common issues (e.g., access problems, resource deployment errors, basic performance concerns).
  • Ticket Management: Log, track, and update support tickets, ensuring timely communication with end users and escalation to senior staff when necessary.
  • Knowledge Base Contribution: Document solutions to recurring issues, contributing to a growing repository of SOPs and FAQs for the team.

Refactoring Project Assistance

  • Environment Assessment: Collaborate with the team lead and systems architect to review the current Azure environment, identifying areas for optimization (e.g., cost, security, compliance).
  • Implementation Support: Assist in the migration or restructuring of resources, updating scripts, templates, and runbooks to reflect new standards.
  • Testing & Validation: Participate in testing changes in non-production environments, validating that refactored components meet operational and compliance requirements.
  • Documentation: Update all relevant documentation to reflect the refactored environment, ensuring future changes remain safe and auditable.

Key Attributes:

  • 1+ years’ experience in systems/cloud administration
  • A degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
  • AZ900 Certification and experience working in Azure environment
  • Comfortable with PowerShell, Git, and Azure CLI for automation and troubleshooting. Able to quickly learn new Azure features and services as they are adopted.
  • Follows change management protocols rigorously, ensuring all actions are logged and reviewed. Maintains up-to-date documentation for all operational procedures.
  • Analytical Mindset: Proactively analyzes monitoring data, cost reports, and compliance signals to identify trends and potential issues before they escalate.
  • Works effectively with IT, system architects, and end users.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to engage effectively with both highly technical teams and less technical stakeholders.
