Junior Interior Designer / Interior Design Assistant (Contract)

An Ottawa Interior Design Studio is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Junior Interior Designer or Interior Design Assistant to join our team on a contract basis.

This position is ideal for arecent graduate of an accredited Interior Design program who is driven by a thirst for quality, integrity, and efficiency and is eager to gain hands-on experience supporting projects from concept through installation.

Position Overview

The Junior Interior Designer will work closely with our Lead Designer to support site visits and technical production responsibilities. This role is project-based and offered on an as-needed contract basis.

Candidates must be local to the Ottawa/Gatineau area and have access to a reliable vehicle, as site visits, measurements, and installations will be required.

Qualifications

• Recent graduate of an accredited Interior Design program
• Up to 3 years of relevant experience considered an asset
• Professional liability insurance required
• Must provide three professional references
• Access to a reliable vehicle
• Strong technical drafting and documentation skills
• Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail
• Professional, dependable, and comfortable on active job sites

We are looking for someone who is well spoken, organized, professional, energetic, and a lifelong learner. The ideal candidate is emotionally mature, able to work independently or collaboratively, and able to communicate ideas clearly in writing, visually, and verbally.

Responsibilities

Site and Technical Production Support

• Site documentation including measurements, photographs, and furniture and art documentation
• Preparation of base plans, floor plans, elevations, millwork drawings, lighting plans, and furniture plans
• Tile and countertop take-offs
• Creation and management of FFE spreadsheets
• Development of concept boards and furniture boards
• Paint scheme preparation
• On-site presence for contractor coordination, installations, and deliveries
