Te Puni Kōkiri is the government's principal policy advisor on Māori wellbeing and development. We achieve strategic influence with a focus on providing high quality policy advice and holding other agencies to account for delivering public services to, for, and with Māori. This includes our mandate to promote Māori achievement in education, training, health and economic resource development along with performing our monitoring and mentoring roles.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Coordinator to join our Strategy team and gain valuable experience!

Te whai wāhitanga | The opportunity

Reporting to the General Manager, Data, Insights and Monitoring you will be supporting the successful delivery and management of our Monitoring function. This role is varied, with a focus on.

  • Administration. Handling a range of administrative and program management tasks, such as planning, coordinating, organizing, and executing program activities. Proving secretariat support to leadership, booking meetings, setting agendas and taking minutes, and drafting memos.
  • Planning & Reporting. Coordinating small-scale projects using the Ministry's project management methodology, including leading, planning and reporting, and managing work priorities within your projects, along with associated risks and opportunities.
  • Stakeholder Relationships. Engage with a diverse range of stakeholders, including forming strong working relationships across the puni.

The appointment range for this role is between $76,022 and $92,915 (With a midpoint of $84,468) per annum and the salary will be determined based on the successful candidate's skills and experience.

A quick thinking, forward looking kaimahi, with an excellent level oral and written communication skills you should take pride in your work and supporting those leaders and kaimahi around you. We are looking for someone who is:

  • Ability to work well under pressure, maintaining composure and efficiency even in challenging situations. This includes managing tight deadlines, handling multiple tasks simultaneously, and staying focused on delivering high-quality results despite any stress or obstacles that may arise.
  • Experienced in writing for, communicating with and engaging with a large range of audiences.
  • Has some knowledge of project methodology, processes and practices with the desire to grow their knowledge in this area.
  • High degree of computer literacy, including intermediate knowledge of email software, MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, MS Visio and MS Project.
  • Comfortable working in a te ao Māori environment and situations where tikanga is observed. Competency in teo reo Māori or a willingness to learn.
