At He Whānau Manaaki Kindergartens, we have over 108 kindergartens across the regions we serve, bringing learning, connection, and fun to families across Whanganui, Central Plateau, Horowhenua, Kapiti, Porirua, Greater Wellington, Upper Hutt, Wairarapa and South Otago. We also provide a home-based service - Etu Ao in Porirua and Levin.
Our vision for He Whānau Manaaki o Tararua is derived from our belief in the importance of quality early childhood education for the children themselves, their whānau, their community and for Aotearoa New Zealand. Therefore, we seek to be a leader in the provision of high-quality early childhood education, and by demonstrating what can be achieved, be seen as advocates for children and whānau and help to improve quality early childhood education throughout Aotearoa New Zealand.

More than 6,000 children now attend one of Whānau Manaaki’s 108 kindergartens and around 150 children are enrolled with our Pasifika-focused Etu Ao homebased service.
Community description
Our kindergarten is located at the Wrights Hill end of Kaori and is served by local primary schools and a range of community facilities, such as the mall, library and parks. We pride ourselves on providing a responsive and inclusive learning environment for tamariki and whānau, with unique and diverse ways of being and backgrounds. This is reflected in our newly reviewed philosophy which we use as a living document.
Our full-year Kindergarten is licensed for 30 children aged 2 – 5 years old who attend for 6 hours each day. This is a full-time position worked 8 hours each day between 8am and 4:30pm.

- demonstrates their knowledge of research and pedagogy relating to learning within a sociocultural framework
- is skilled in leading the team in planning for, implementing and evaluating intentional teaching practice within a localised curriculum.
