Summary:
Apellis is a biotechnology company advancing therapies that target the complement system, with a strong focus on retinal disease. In ANZ, we are preparing to launch the first ever treatment for Geographic Atrophy (GA), a major cause of blindness.To drive adoption and commercial success of GA treatment across South Australia & Western Australia by engaging key ophthalmology stakeholders, supporting disease education, and executing territory plans aligned with brand strategy.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Build strong relationships with retinal specialists, ophthalmologists, orthoptists and nurses.
- Implement territory plans and promotional activities to meet/exceed commercial targets.
- Maintain strong disease and product knowledge and communicate clinical information effectively using approved materials.
- Manage territory budgets, CRM updates (Veeva) and ensure full compliance with internal and industry standards.
- Support KOL development and collaborate with Medical Affairs on meetings and educational events.
- Work collaboratively with Marketing, Medical and cross‑functional teams.
Essential skills, experience and abilities
- Proven experience as a Key Account Manager or Specialist Representative.
- Strong capability to understand and communicate clinical/scientific information.
- Solid account management skills and stakeholder engagement experience.
- Tertiary qualifications in Science, Pharmacy, Nursing, Business, Marketing or Education.
- Medicines Australia CEP.
- Current driver’s license and ability to travel.
- Exhibits excellent time management and planning.
- Proactive mindset with the ability to shape internal processes and contribute beyond the core job scope when opportunities arise.
- Must be pro-active team player, flexible, and able to work in a dynamic environment.
Desirable skills and experience
- Launch experience (ideally within Ophthalmology, though not essential).
- Experience or familiarity with the eye care sector.
- Key account planning or project management proficiency.
- Postgraduate qualifications in optometry/ophthalmology/vision science.
Travel Requirements:
- Office is home based
- Interstate travel is required Required to travel to HCP meetings, team meetings, and other group meetings (will require some weekends)
