Kitchen Assistant

Food makes such a difference to the residents’ lives which is why the Riverstone Care Home is searching for a Kitchen Assistant to support the Chefs with providing deliciously nutritious meals for the residents to enjoy. This is a great opportunity for those who want to work on a casual basis and to get a foot in the door to the catering industry. We are also looking for a Laundry worker to join us on a casual basis.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities forKitchen and Laundry

• General kitchen duties (dishwashing and cleaning).
• Assist with food preparation.
• Adhere to Hygiene and food safety standards.
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Follow Health and Safety procedures.

• Ensuring all care is taken with the residents' personal clothing and returned to owners.

• Operating all laundry equipment as specified.
• Meeting of daily schedule to keep laundry up to date and advising Manager of any issues that impact on the maintenance of this.
• Maintaining clean/dirty delineation areas within the laundry.
• Monitoring of linen supplies and advising line manager of replacement needs.
• Ensure all residents are treated with dignity and respect.

What About You

• Previous experience working in a commercial laundry is preferred, however not essential as we will provide training.
• Demonstrate a positive attitude, enthusiasm, strong empathy, and a passion for making a difference to our residents’ lives.
• You will be a team player, with the ability to work independently, and who is prepared to roll up your sleeves and get stuck into whatever needs to get done.
• Have reliable transport or travel arrangements.
• Applicants must be legally entitled to work in NZ.
