Position Overview: Full Time, Permanent
Hours of Work: Day/Afternoon shift, Monday to Friday, 7:00 am – 3:00 pm or 3:00 – 11:00pm
Location: On-site, 343 Saunders Rd, Barrie, Ontario
Reporting To: Finishing & Cutting Lead Hand
Role Status: This is a newly created position
The Laser Cutter Operator plays a key role in bringing designs to life by operating a Summa laser cutting system with precision and care. This role is responsible for producing high-quality cuts while maintaining safety, efficiency, and attention to detail in a fast-paced production environment. There will also be additional duties outside of this primary scope as needed within the finishing department.
Job Duties (include and are not limited to):
- Operate and monitor a Summa laser cutting system to accurately cut, and process materials according to job specifications and production schedules.
- Set up jobs by loading materials, adjusting machine settings, and selecting appropriate cutting parameters to ensure quality and efficiency.
- Interpret work orders and digital files to ensure correct execution of cuts and engravings.
- Conduct quality checks on finished products to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to company standards.
- Troubleshoot minor machine issues and escalate mechanical or technical concerns to maintenance or supervision as required.
- Collaborate with production, design, and supervisory teams to meet deadlines and continuously improve processes.
- Perform routine machine inspections, cleaning, and basic preventative maintenance to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with health and safety standards.
- Follow all safety procedures and operating guidelines when working with laser equipment and materials.
- Additional duties outside of this primary scope as needed.
Qualifications & Requirements
- No previous experience required; however preferred; training will be provided.
- Must be computer savvy to operate computer programs
- The successful candidate must be able to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
- Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Must be able to stand for periods of time and lift materials as needed.
- Ability to lift and move materials as required for production.
