ABOUT THE ROLE

The Laser Setup and Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining laser cutting machinery to meet production requirements. This role ensures that the laser cutting process is carried out efficiently, safely, and in compliance with all specifications. The Laser Setup and Operator is also responsible for maintaining high standards of quality, productivity, and safety in the operation of the laser systems.

RESPONSIBILITES

  • Laser Setup and Operation:
  • Set up and operate laser cutting machines, ensuring correct parameters for material type, thickness, and job specifications.
  • Load and unload raw materials and finished products from the laser cutting machines.
  • Adjust machine settings (such as speed, power, and frequency) to optimize the cutting process.
  • Perform regular quality checks on cut parts, ensuring compliance with project specifications.
  • Machine Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
  • Perform basic maintenance tasks, such as cleaning, replacing filters and nozzles.
  • Troubleshoot minor machine issues, such as misalignment, power adjustments, and software or hardware malfunctions.
  • Report major mechanical issues to the maintenance team or supervisor.
  • Quality Control:
  • Inspect finished parts to ensure adherence to the desired cut specifications, tolerances, and quality standards.
  • Use precision measuring tools to verify the accuracy of the cuts and dimensions.
  • Perform routine quality checks and report any deviations to the quality control team.
  • Safety and Compliance:
  • Follow all safety protocols and ensure that all machine guards and safety devices are in place and functional.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to OSHA and company safety standards.
  • Properly handle and dispose of materials and waste according to environmental and safety regulations.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate records of production runs, including job details, material usage, and machine settings.
  • Record machine maintenance logs and report any issues that require attention or downtime.

REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or equivalent (technical certification in manufacturing or related field preferred).
  • Proven experience operating laser cutting machines or similar CNC machinery.
  • Familiarity with laser cutting processes, materials, and CAD/CAM software.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to report production and machine status.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Visual acuity for precise measurements and cutting specifications.
  • Must be able to pass a drug screening

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $23.00 - $27.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
