Description:
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The Lead Educator Science is a key leadership role within the College, responsible for providing leadership in both learning and culture. They advocate for their subject area, lead a collaborative team focused on student success, and integrate a Christian worldview into the curriculum. Lead Educators contribute to the College's leadership, guide their teams with a growth mindset, and support both educational and spiritual development within their faculty. Their role ensures a broad, innovative approach to teaching while improving student outcomes.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Integrate a Christian worldview into the KLA's culture, documentation, and practice, while ensuring alignment with the College’s student-centered pedagogical approach.
- Develop and implement an Annual Action Plan focused on high-quality teaching, student achievement, and continuous improvement, using data and evidence (e.g., NAPLAN/RAP analysis, student surveys).
- Set, monitor, and evaluate student achievement standards, ensuring constructive feedback that fosters excellence.
- Manage academic appeals, calendars, and examinations for Stages 5 and 6, while coordinating with Stage 4 teachers to ensure consistency in managing Year 7 and 8 appeals.
- Lead professional learning, mentor pre- and early-service teachers, and conduct appraisals of assigned staff members.
- Collaborate with other Lead Educators and the Senior School Curriculum Team to enhance learning outcomes across the College.
- Stay current with educational research and practices, while ensuring all administrative tasks and NESA compliance are met.
- Support teachers and students in managing behaviour referrals to maintain positive learning environments.
- Any other reasonable direction that is within the limits of your skills, competence, training and/or experience as given by your Supervisor and/or Principal.
Committed Christian who is actively involved in their local evangelical Christian church.
- Relevant teaching qualifications and accreditation
- Experience teaching Science
- Proven leadership experience in education, with a focus on Christian values.
- Ability to integrate a Christian worldview into teaching and practice.
- Strong leadership and teamwork skills, fostering collaboration.
- Excellent teaching, classroom management, and student achievement skills.
- Competence in developing and implementing strategic action plans.
- Effective communication, mentoring, and feedback skills for staff development.
- Proficiency in analysing data (e.g., NAPLAN/RAP) to improve teaching and student outcomes.
- Strong organisational skills, managing academic appeals, calendars, and exams.
- Commitment to staying current with educational research, trends, and compliance requirements.
- Current Working with Children Check.
