Job Title: Lead Maintenance Worker - Hot Mix Asphalt Plant
Location: Calicoatte & Hopkins Hot Mix Asphalt Plants
Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Maintenance Worker to lead the maintenance team at our Hot Mix Asphalt Plant. The Foreman will oversee the maintenance operations, ensuring the plant’s equipment is running smoothly and efficiently. This role involves supervising and directing maintenance personnel, coordinating maintenance schedules, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervision & Leadership: Lead, supervise, and provide guidance to a team of maintenance workers, ensuring all tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
- Maintenance Coordination: Oversee and coordinate the daily maintenance operations, including preventive maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting, and equipment calibration, ensuring minimal plant downtime.
- Troubleshooting & Problem Solving: Provide expertise in diagnosing complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues. Ensure quick resolution to minimize disruptions to production.
- Work Scheduling: Develop and manage the maintenance schedule, prioritizing tasks and ensuring that routine maintenance and urgent repairs are handled efficiently.
- Safety Management: Enforce and uphold safety protocols in the maintenance area. Ensure the team follows proper safety procedures and maintains a safe working environment at all times. Conduct regular safety training and inspections.
- Training & Development: Train maintenance staff on best practices, new technologies, and safety procedures. Provide ongoing coaching and support to improve performance.
- Quality Control: Ensure all maintenance work meets quality standards and manufacturer specifications. Inspect repaired or maintained equipment to verify it is functioning properly.
- Parts and Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels of parts and materials, ensure adequate supplies for maintenance activities, and assist with ordering replacement parts when necessary.
- Record Keeping & Reporting: Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, equipment repairs, and inspections. Report on work progress, downtime, and performance metrics to management.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with other plant departments, including operations and production teams, to ensure smooth coordination and communication regarding maintenance schedules and plant needs.
- Environmental Compliance: Ensure that all maintenance activities comply with environmental regulations and industry standards, including waste disposal, emissions, and noise levels.
- Emergency Response: Lead and assist in emergency maintenance operations, providing quick solutions to unforeseen breakdowns and issues during both regular and after-hours shifts.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications or training in maintenance, industrial equipment, or related fields is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial maintenance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or foreman role, preferably in an asphalt or construction environment.
- Strong mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic system knowledge and experience.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage and motivate a team.
- Experience in hot mix asphalt plant operations and equipment is highly desirable.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry heavy materials (up to 50 lbs).
- Ability to work in a variety of environmental conditions (heat, cold, dust, noise).
- Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and climb for long periods.
- Ability to work in physically demanding conditions while adhering to safety protocols.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time, with potential for shift work, weekend, or on-call duties as needed.
- Work is performed in a hot mix asphalt plant, which may be noisy, dusty, and physically demanding.
- Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), such as hard hats, ear protection, safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toed boots.
Compensation:
- Pay Rate - $20-23 DOE*
- Benefit Packages available after 3 months.
