About The Position
Position Location: Port Pirie
Position Status: Part Time FTE 0.8 - 11 month Maternity Leave coverage
Closing Date for Applications: 12th July 2026
Intensive Family Services is the delivery of services, predominately in their homes, to families by providing earlier, intensive, targeted support to families with multiple and complex needs, to reduce incidents of child abuse and neglect and prevent children entering the child protection system in the first place. The intensive service will support families to improve family safety and well-being, improve family functioning and strengthen connection to support in their community and culture.
As the Lead Practitioner, you will provide leadership, supervision and support to service Practitioners to deliver a service that is holistic, needs based and evidence informed, empowers clients for self-determined actions, has a growth focused approach to:
- Reduce and eliminate risk factors.
- Promote child safety and well-being.
- Prevent family breakdown.
- Enhance and improve family functioning.
- Increase knowledge and skills to care for children and young people.
Skills and Experiences:
You will:
- Have experience working with families and within the Child Protection sector.
- Have knowledge and understanding of intergenerational and complex trauma.
- Have knowledge of strength based practices, crisis management and problem-solving theories.
- Have knowledge of key barriers facing people with complex needs, and best practice models of support and service provision.
- Current Australian Drivers Licence.
- Social Work Degree, however a Diploma (or above) in a Human Services or related discipline may be considered.
- Relevant experience, including experience leading a team.
