About Us
The Marco Island Yacht Club Youth Sailing Program is an exciting and growing program located in beautiful Marco Island, Florida. We are expanding our offerings and building a year-round sailing community for both youth and adults.
This is a unique opportunity to work alongside the Sailing Director to help shape the future of our program. We encourage creativity and welcome new ideas as we continue to grow and develop our sailing initiatives.
Position Summary
The Lead Sailing Instructor will work closely with the Sailing Director to execute and grow our year-round sailing programs. This individual will lead youth instruction, help develop our adult sailing program, and serve as the coach for our high school sailing team.
We are looking for someone who is passionate about sailing, enjoys working with people of all ages, and is excited to be part of building something special.
Responsibilities
- Lead instruction for youth sailors ages 4–18
- Assist in developing and growing a year-round youth sailing program
- Help launch and instruct adult sailing programs
- Coach our high school sailing team
- Create engaging lesson plans and activities
- Foster a safe, fun, and inclusive learning environment
- Assist with marketing, community outreach, and special events
- Maintain sailboats, coach boats, and equipment
- Supervise seasonal instructors and volunteers as needed
- Collaborate with the Sailing Director to bring fresh ideas and continue growing the program
Qualifications
Required:
- US Sailing Level 1 Instructor Certification
- CPR, First Aid, and SafeSport certifications (or ability to obtain before employment)
- Previous sailing instruction experience
- Experience working with children and teenagers
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and work outdoors in varying weather conditions
