About the role
AFF is looking for an experienced Leading Farm Hand to join our team at our Togo Farm operations, located in Narrabri, NSW. This hands-on role supports the Farm Manager by overseeing day-to-day tasks, providing guidance to farm hands, and ensuring that farm operations run efficiently and safely. You'll work across a variety of activities - from cropping and irrigation to machinery and maintenance - while helping to lead a positive and productive team environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading small teams and delegating daily tasks to support operational priorities.
- Operating and maintaining tractors and other broadacre farm machinery.
- Assisting with the planning and execution of irrigation activities.
- Supporting crop production, weed and pest control, and seasonal field preparation.
- Monitoring safety on site and contributing to toolbox talks and WHS leadership.
- Carrying out general farm maintenance and infrastructure upkeep.
Skills and Experiences:
About you
You're someone who thrives in a hands-on environment and takes pride in a job well done. With a solid background in broadacre farming, you're confident in operating machinery, working as part of a team, and taking the lead when needed. You've got a proactive approach to safety, a strong work ethic, and you're ready to step up and support both people and production.
To be successful in this role, you'll bring:
- Experience in supporting or supervising day-to-day farm operations.
- Familiarity with seasonal cropping activities and irrigation scheduling.
- The ability to give direction to a wider team.
- Strong situational awareness and a practical approach to problem-solving.
- A commitment to upholding safety and setting a good example for others.
- ChemCert or relevant WHS qualifications.
