About the Role

The Learning Area Leader (LAL) is responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership in the following areas: curriculum planning and programming, pedagogy, teacher professional growth, and coordinating the administrative processes for the Science faculty.

The successful candidate will be appointed to this role for an initial term of four (4) years, in accordance with Clause S2.13.1 for Middle Leadership. This appointment includes a permanent position as a teacher and includes a teaching role for the successful applicant.

Key Responsibilities / Duties:
  • Establishing a clear vision for the faculty in line with the College’s Learning Framework.
  • Leading pedagogy within the faculty and the College in developing and monitoring clear processes to support the pedagogical development of staff to fulfill the expectations of the College’s Learning Framework.
  • Leading the development and dissemination of units of work that meet authority and regulatory body requirements.
  • Establishing clear processes for identifying and supporting at risk students within the Science faculty.
  • Working in collaboration with the Heads of School to mentor and support students in areas including academic improvement, organisation and study skills specific to the Science Faculty.

Skills and Experiences:
To be considered for this role, you should have:
Current Queensland Teacher Registration (or the capacity to obtain)
Bachelor of Education or equivalent, and relevant experience, particularly in the areas of effective practice.
Demonstrated achievement in school leadership.
Demonstrated understanding of curriculum development and employing authority Policy and Procedure.
