About the role:
Are you a Physiotherapist with significant clinical experience and experience teaching or supervising students?
Curtin University School of Allied Health invites applications for a dynamic and motivated individual to join our team as Lecturer (Teaching Academic or Teaching & Research) in Physiotherapy. This is a part-time (0.5 FTE, 2.5 days per week) fixed-term 1-year contract position, tailored for an individual who excels in their field. While we will consider applicants from different clinical backgrounds, experience in cardiopulmonary care is highly desirable.
The role involves coordinating units, contributing to developing materials/designing curricula, teaching and supervising students at various levels and supporting clinical placements. The ideal candidate should have significant relevant clinical experience (preferably in cardiopulmonary or acute care), have engaged in clinical supervision and/ or university teaching and may have experience in scholarship of learning and teaching or research expertise. They must also demonstrate experience building relationships with industry and the community. Desired capabilities also include supporting diverse students from various backgrounds and age groups.
Selection Criteria
Who we are looking for:
- Education: A doctoral qualification in a relevant discipline (or equivalence and professional standing for a Teaching Academic role at Level B – please see below).
- Teaching Skills: Demonstrated high level teaching skill and a reflective approach to teaching delivery; significant clinical experience in chosen field.
- Pedagogical Knowledge: An understanding of pedagogical theory and contemporary educational practice relevant to the discipline and a record of contribution to scholarship in teaching or capacity to engage in this.
- Unit Coordination: Demonstrated experience or capacity to undertake a unit coordination role.
- Communication: Demonstrated high level communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to the development of a collegial and supportive working environment and the ability to interact with students and staff with cross cultural sensitivity.
- Policy Commitment: Demonstrated commitment to applying relevant and applicable policies, procedures and legislation in the day-to-day performance of the functions of this position.
- An established record of research outputs/creative works in high-quality refereed academic journals/outlets consistent with the discipline.
- A history of successful competitive grant applications
Role Requirements:
- As this is a fixed-term contract, you will require current work rights in Australia that match the tenure of this role.
- Successful applicants are subject to a National Police Clearance, and background, integrity, and reference checks to Curtin’s satisfaction.
- Applicants must currently registered with AHPRA.
- Part-time (0.5 FTE), 2.5 days per week.
