Legal Nurse Case Reviewer
It’s the details that matter! ShimSpine is looking for an experienced, detail-oriented Nurse Case Reviewer to join our team. You will use our patented, industry-leading software application to analyze medical records and develop high-quality case summaries and chronologies for a variety of clients. Our ideal candidate brings deep specialty experience in orthopaedics and/or neurosurgery, combined with a strong foundation in nursing, medical terminology, treatments, and standards of care.
About Us
We are a medical and technology practice with a dynamic team that utilizes a patented, proprietary, industry-leading software application to help our clients, customers, and patients achieve the best possible outcomes.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Primary responsibility to review medical and legal documentation/records associated with the development of a medical chronology to provide written case summaries and analysis.
- Review, extract, and analyze complex medical data.
- Evaluate the appropriateness of treatments provided.
- Assist with refining and improving processes associated with reviewing cases.
- Audit work of other team members.
- Collaborate with other team members, physicians, and clients to develop a high-quality work product.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Active Florida nursing license required.
- Minimum of 5 years of direct patient care experience specifically in Orthopaedics and/or Neurosurgery, gained across more than one clinical environment (e.g., hospital inpatient settings, ER and specialty physician office/clinic settings are ideal). Hospital med-surg experience alone is generally insufficient. Experience in rehab facilities or home health nursing is also insufficient and not really applicable to the orthopaedic/neurosurgical knowledge needed for this role.
- Experience in the ER, surgery, or additional neurology/neurosurgery related areas is highly desirable.
- Able to consistently meet deadlines and produce high-quality work.
- Proficiency with computers, Microsoft Word, Google tools, and various software programs; excellent typing skills.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medications, common procedures, and surgeries—particularly in orthopaedic and neurosurgical contexts.
- Attention to detail and accuracy are essential.
- Self-motivated with excellent time management skills.
- Must be a team player with strong communication skills and a commitment to quality improvement.
- Willingness to continually learn new medical knowledge, concepts, and serve as a strong contributor/leader on the team.
- Ability to sit/stand for long durations daily.
This is an onsite position. No remote work.
Only candidates who meet the above qualifications, particularly the orthopaedic/neurosurgery experience requirements, are encouraged to apply.
