Brian Duffy Solicitors are seeking to recruit a full-time Legal Secretary/Receptionist to join our busy practice in Portlaoise, Co. Laois. The ideal candidate will have previous experience working in a legal office and will be organised, professional and capable of managing a busy front-of-house role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing the reception area, greeting clients and visitors in a professional and welcoming manner.
  • Answering telephone calls and directing them to the appropriate staff member.
  • Handling client queries and liaising with third parties where required.
  • Diary management and scheduling appointments.
  • Dictaphone typing and preparation of legal documents and correspondence.
  • Managing incoming and outgoing post.
  • Scanning, filing and maintaining organised client files (physical and electronic).
  • General administrative support to solicitors and office staff.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • 2+ years’ experience working in a legal office.
  • Familiarity with legal case management systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook and general office IT systems.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritise workload.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • A friendly, professional and proactive attitude towards clients and colleagues.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
