We are now looking for a Legal Trainee, Real Estate & Energy to join our legal team at our head office, the Biofore House, in Helsinki, Finland. This is a full-time and fixed-term position, preferably from the beginning of March until end of August 2026.

What you will do

You will support UPM Real Estate and UPM Energy in various real estate transactions and development projects related to e.g. datacenters and wind and solar power projects. You will:

  • Assist Group Counsel responsible for UPM Real Estate legal matters with real estate transactions
  • Draft and comment simple or standard agreements and agreement templates like lease or sale and purchase agreements
  • Assist in legal and organizational tasks related to wind and solar power projects’ land lease and related agreements, help organizing public events, and contact landowners
  • Organize and archive contracts and register them with National Land Survey (Maanmittauslaitos)
  • Update databases (e.g. landowner information, renewable benchmark data)
  • Do legal research, archive and do other paralegal tasks

Who you are

We are looking for a person with positive attitude, service-oriented mindset and genuine interest to learn and grow as a legal professional in real estate, environmental and energy matters. In this position you will need to be able to take ownership of your own work and manage multiple responsibilities and tasks concurrently while remaining focused on the key priorities. In addition, the person we are looking for:

  • Has studies in law, with approximately 60–100% of the studies completed
  • Has excellent Finnish and English skills, written and oral
  • Earlier work experience is not a must, but the following are seen as assets:
    • Earlier work experience in a law firm or in-house law department
    • Earlier knowledge/studies/genuine interest in real estate law, environmental law, contract law and/or energy law is highly appreciated
