Join Our Compassionate and Skilled Social Work Team at St George Hospital. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Level 3 Social Worker to join our dedicated team in a permanent full-time role within the Women’s and Children’s team at St George Hospital. This is a unique opportunity to work in a specialist clinical area, supporting patients with their pregnancy journey including safety and risk assessments and pregnancy loss.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in delivering holistic, person-centred care as part of a multidisciplinary team (MDT) in the Obstetrics, Neonatology and Paediatric Service. Key responsibilities include:
  • Previous experience working in Women’s and Children’s medicine or Paediatrics is desirable.
  • Providing advanced psychosocial assessment and intervention for patients and families who are pregnant.
  • Supporting complex discharge planning and case management for safety and risk assessments and grief and bereavement care during pregnancy.
  • Collaborating closely with medical, nursing, allied health, pastoral care and other external stakeholder teams (Police, DCJ, Child, Youth and Family teams) to ensure integrated care delivery and safety planning.
  • Offering clinical supervision and mentoring to junior social work staff and students.
  • Will need to be working as a clinical social worker for at least 5 years to be considered eligible to apply.
We are looking for a social worker who brings clinical expertise, emotional intelligence, and leadership skills, and who is passionate about advocating for vulnerable patients and supporting families through their pregnancy. Selection Criteria
  • Qualifications in accordance with Schedule C of the NSW Health Service Health Professionals (State) Award and eligibility for membership of the AASW
  • Extensive post graduate clinical experience in relevant specialty area with a demonstrated commitment to ongoing clinical and professional learning
  • Excellent negotiation, decision making and advocacy skills including the ability to interact constructively and collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders, throughout all organisational levels
  • Ability to provide in-depth advice and education to enhance service delivery and to guide and support others in providing service excellence, with the capacity to provide clinical supervision to other staff
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and to apply advanced reasoning skills and independent professional judgement when dealing with situations of a novel, complex or critical nature
  • Ability to initiate, lead, complete and share quality improvement initiatives and service evaluation processes and lead ongoing quality improvement activities with other staff
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and prioritise your own and team work requirements effectively within agreed time frames
  • Demonstrated experience in providing crisis interventions and the ability to participate in the After Hours Crisis On-Call Social Work Service.
