Lgv 1 Driver

Job Overview: We are looking for a professional and experienced LGV 1 Tramper Driver to join our team. As an LGV 1 Tramper, you will be responsible for driving an articulated lorry (HGV Class 1) on long-distance routes across the UK, typically involving overnight stays away from home. This is a great opportunity for individuals who enjoy a mix of independence, responsibility, and working in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive an LGV 1 vehicle (articulated lorry) safely and efficiently to deliver goods to various locations across the UK.
  • Ensure that all deliveries are made on time, following the specified routes and schedules.
  • Be prepared for overnight stays (tramping) when required.
  • Maintain accurate delivery records, including vehicle checks, fuel receipts, and delivery logs.
  • Ensure compliance with all road safety regulations, tachograph rules, and driver working hours legislation.
  • Conduct pre-trip inspections and ensure that the vehicle is in good working order (checking tyres, fuel, oil levels, and general cleanliness).
  • Load and unload cargo where necessary (manual handling may be required).
  • Follow company procedures for vehicle maintenance, reporting any faults or damages immediately.
  • Represent the company professionally while interacting with customers and clients during deliveries.
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations at all times.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Valid LGV C+E (Class 1) driving license.
  • CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) qualification.
  • Digital tachograph card.
  • Proven experience in long-distance driving, preferably in a tramper role.
  • Ability to work independently and manage your time effectively.
  • Strong knowledge of road safety and transportation regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to handle physically demanding tasks, including lifting and securing loads.
  • Flexibility and willingness to work away from home, with overnight stays when necessary.

Desirable Skills & Qualifications:

  • Previous experience driving articulated lorries.
  • Experience with a variety of vehicles (flatbeds, curtain siders, box trailers, etc.).
  • Good geographical knowledge of the UK road network.

Working Hours:

  • This is a full-time position with flexible hours depending on the route and load requirements.
  • The role involves overnight stays and extended hours
  • Weekend work may be required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From £38,000.00 per year
