A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for a part-time Librarian-Community. Parklands Library will be trialling a 25.5hr librarian position for one year. Are you the right person to help us assess the effectiveness of this role at Parklands?
About the team | Ko te rōpū nei
The Parklands team is small, collaborative and committed to delivering excellent library services for the community. We are looking for a positive, enthusiastic and skilled person to join our team with the goal of levelling-up all of our professional activities.
About the role | Ko te mahi nei
This is a busy library with high collection use and programme attendance. The café partners with the library to draw a wide cross-section of this active and established community into the building.
The librarian at Parklands will:
- Develop, promote and deliver programmes for people of all ages
- Support the team with training
- Use good judgment to advise colleagues on collection management
- Collaborate with Librarians at New Brighton and Aranui
- Facilitate team relationships with schools and community organisations in the area

The successful applicant will be an organised and effective worker with great collection skills. You will have a strong reputation for whanaungatanga and working collaboratively in your team. You will move easily between programming, everyday customer service and regular library tasks.

Hours of work - Fixed Term 12 months - 25.5 hours p/week
Location - This position is primarily based at Parklands Library
Salary - The salary band for this position goes from$65,502 - $72,780 per annum based on a 40 hour week. Starting salaries will be based on knowledge, skills and experience the successful candidate brings to the role, and relativities both, within the immediate team and in the broader organisation for the same or similar roles.
