Job Purpose
To ensure the efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical and electrical equipment within a milk processing plant. The role supports continuous production by minimizing downtime, ensuring food safety compliance, and maintaining equipment to dairy industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
Mechanical Responsibilities
· Maintain and repair dairy processing equipment including:
o Milk pasteurizers and homogenizers
o Separators
o Pumps, valves, and pipework systems
o Plate heat exchangers
o Mixing and blending systems
o Filling and packaging machinery
· Perform preventative maintenance on conveyors, gearboxes, motors, compressors, and refrigeration systems.
· Maintain and repair stainless steel process lines.
Electrical Responsibilities
· Maintain and troubleshoot:
o PLC-controlled processing systems
o VSDs (Variable Speed Drives)
o Motor control centers (MCCs)
o Sensors, instrumentation, and temperature control systems
o Automated filling and packaging lines
· Diagnose electrical faults using testing equipment.
· Support calibration of instrumentation (flow meters, temperature probes, pressure sensors).
· Ensure compliance with electrical safety and food production regulations.
· Assist with automation improvements and system upgrades.

Refrigeration & Utilities (Advantageous)
· Support maintenance of refrigeration systems used for milk storage and cooling.
· Assist in maintaining steam boilers and compressed air systems.
· Monitor and maintain CIP (Clean-in-Place) systems.

Food Safety & Compliance
· Ensure all maintenance work complies with:
o HACCP requirements
o Food Safety Standards (e.g., ISO 22000 / FSSC 22000 where applicable)
o Dairy hygiene standards
· Maintain strict hygiene practices during repairs.
· Prevent contamination risks during maintenance activities.
· Complete documentation as per audit and traceability requirements.
