Summary: Evaluate finished product to determine to reject product that don’t meet the quality standards of OWS. Package product into perspective packaging making sure information is correctly printed on the label and the amount of product in each package is consistent.

Responsibilities/Duties: include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Minimum expectations include but are not limited to:

  • Transfer product from combos to barrels utilizing a combo dumper.
  • Efficiently supply product to up to 11 production lines, ensuring consistent workflow and minimal downtime.
  • Perform regular equipment washdowns in accordance with Old Wisconsin’s sanitation and wash matrix standards.
  • Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) to maintain product quality and safety.
  • Safely operate an electric pallet jack for product transport and organization.
  • Utilize Redzone software to monitor production performance, communicate with team members, and ensure real-time reporting and compliance.
  • Evaluate finished product for obvious deficiencies during each step in the packaging process.
  • Take the finished product and break it down to a suitable size for packaging.
  • Deposit the finished broken down product into a container or piece of equipment at a suitable rate for use at the packaging machine.
  • Remove the product from a container and place it into the packaging machine at a rate of speed to satisfy production demands for the style of product being packaged.
  • Deposit label or carded inserters into the packages prior to completion of the packaging process at a rate of speed to satisfy production demands for the style of product being packaged.
  • Label packaged product prior to placement into shipping carton.
  • Evaluate the packaged product prior to boxing to assure established facility and government/quality and legal standards have been met.
  • Make up containers used for holding and shipping of the product being packaged.
  • Box and palletize finished product.
  • Cleans packaging containers.
  • Starts, stops, and regulates speed of conveyor.
  • Inserts or pours product into containers or fills containers from spout or chute or hopper.
  • Weights containers and adjusts quantity.
  • Closes, seals, and labels containers, container tags, or product.
  • Sorts bundles or filled containers.
  • Packs special arrangements or selections of product.
  • Inspects materials, products and containers at each step of packaging process.
  • Take responsibility in your work area to produce a safe and quality food product. Report all food safety and quality related problems to your supervisor, manager, or to the QA department to initiate immediate action.

Supervisory Responsibility: No.

Specific Knowledge, Skills, Licenses, Certifications, Etc:

  • Required education is less than a high school education; up to 1 month related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; 3 to 5 years of manufacturing, high speed packaging, or food manufacturing experience.
  • Strong self-motivation with the ability to work independently and proactively.
  • Ability to safely push and maneuver heavy barrels of product throughout the production area
  • Excellent organization, communication, and time management skills.
  • Familiarity with GMPs and sanitation protocols in a food production environment.
  • Proficient in using Redzone productivity and communication software in a manufacturing environment
  • Requires mathematical skills that require the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide and perform metric conversions.
  • Ability to read and write English. Ability to read a limited number of two and three syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with tens and hundreds. Ability to perform these operations using units of American currency and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one-or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet, humid, refrigerated, or freezer conditions consistent with working in a food processing facility. The noise level in the work environment is very loud. The employee is regularly exposed to extreme cold and vibration. Company provides: rubber gloves, metal gloves, cooler coats, sleeve protectors, aprons, bump cap, hair net, beard net, and ear plugs.
