Title: Live-in Community Liaison – Mount Hope Village
Department: Housing and Properties
Reports to: Manager of Properties Services and Asset Management

Status: Permanent, Non-Management, Live-In; 40 hours/week (may include evenings and weekends). Rotational weekly on-call across YWCA Halifax properties

Location: Dartmouth, NS

Position Overview:

The Live-In Community Liaison fosters a safe, supportive, and welcoming community at Mount Hope Village. The emphasis is care and community building—not clinical or extensive care.

Compensation & Housing:

  • Unfurnished two-bedroom townhouse provided as taxable housing benefit valued at $1,075/month. Heat, electricity, Wi-Fi, laundry, and parking included.
  • Salary: Calculated based on housing benefit and required work hours.
  • Full-time schedule: 40 hours per week, with flexibility for evenings and weekends.

Essential Duties of Position:

  • Serve as the community liaison for any tenant issues, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
  • Be a role model for positive tenant living and promote self-sufficiency among residents.
  • Ensure community safety through proactive engagement and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Communicate effectively from a trauma-informed approach and human-centered framework.
  • Build a positive, inclusive living environment and maintain compliance with community covenants.
  • Coordinate activities and encourage participation in communal programs.
  • Perform minor repairs and preventative maintenance; coordinate licensed inspections.
  • Maintain common areas and grounds, including lawn care and snow removal.
  • Show units and conduct move-in/move-out inspections.
  • Identify and report building risks; complete incident reports; support emergency response and after-hours requests within the on-call rotation.
  • Maintain logs and written/verbal communications related to maintenance, incidents, and resident needs; collaborate with Facilities and program teams; attend staff meetings and required training.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Ability to assess maintenance issues and coordinate repairs with the Facilities team/contractors.
  • Certifications: First Aid/CPR and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI).
  • Screening: Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector + Child Abuse Registry.
  • Proven discretion/confidentiality and strong professional boundaries.
  • Alignment with YWCA Halifax’s mission, vision and values including an understanding of and commitment to intersectional feminism.
  • Physical ability to perform cleaning/grounds tasks and lift up to 50 lbs as needed.
